1983 Graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, taught in the Composition Department, and was a member of China Musicians Association. 1986 (Concert of Xu Orchestral Works) was held by China Musicians Association and Central Orchestra in Beijing Concert Hall, and China Record Company published "Album of Xu Orchestral Works".

1988 won an art scholarship from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, went to Paris for further study in the form of a French-Chinese cultural exchange program, and later obtained a diploma (master's degree) in the advanced composition class of the Paris Normal Conservatory of Music. First prize diploma (master's degree) of advanced composition class and diploma (doctor's degree) of master composition class of Paris National Conservatory of Music. 1988 was sent to Paris, France by the Ministry of Culture for further study. He has successively obtained the diploma (master's degree) of advanced composition class of Paris Higher Music Normal School, the first prize diploma (master's degree) of advanced composition class of Paris National Higher Conservatory of Music, and the diploma (doctor's degree) of the third master composition class of Paris National Higher Conservatory of Music.
