The software platform is a world-class MSC software series and automatic generation software for fluid, power and finite element, which ensures a modern scientific research and teaching environment.

Developing scientific research is one of the main tasks of the college. The research directions of formation are: mechanics and structure of composite materials; Wind resistance, earthquake resistance and construction mechanics of the structure; Experimental mechanics; Nonlinear dynamics; Computational mechanics; Meso-mechanics and mechanical analysis of special structures.

In recent years, the discipline has undertaken more than 200 scientific research projects, with a total research funding of 24.97 million yuan. The development of the college aims at cultivating senior talents in aerospace and engineering mechanics, and at the same time promotes the development of disciplines with aerospace science and technology and engineering mechanics as the core to meet the needs of national social and economic development.

The College has strengthened cooperation and exchanges with Australia. In cooperation with the University of Sydney, Australia, we will adopt the "2+2" or "2.5+2" model to cultivate outstanding talents with dual degrees and diplomas in China and Australia and continue to study for master's degrees.

On 20121218, the first pure fuel cell UAV in China was successfully tested. The UAV was developed by Tongji University School of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Mechanics and Shanghai Oxay Aircraft Company for one year.
