After World War II, Mr. Yuan Jialiu worked in Princeton, and so did Mr. Zhang Wenyu. Both of them have conducted frontier experiments of cosmic rays. Later, with the help of British tutor cockcroft and others, Mr. Zhang Wenyu returned to China on 1956 and participated in the work of revitalizing the scientific cause of the motherland.

Four days later, Mr. Yuan Jialiu, as the representative of the Western European Nuclear Research Center, was pleased to attend the reception hosted by the Ambassador of China to Switzerland. On September 28th of the same year, Academician Lu Hefu, a famous physicist in China, met yenching university alumnus Mr. Yuan Jialiu and his wife Professor Wu Jianxiong at Fudan University in Shanghai, and held a banquet in Shanghai Concert Hall that evening. The next day, Academician Lu Hefu presided over the academic lectures of Yuan Jialiu and Wu Jianxiong at the Shanghai Science Museum.

On the third day, Academician Lu Hefu hosted a symposium between Yuan Jialiu and Wu Jianxiong in Jinjiang Hotel 1 1 Building. Through extensive contact with domestic scientists, Mr. Yuan Jialiu has deepened his understanding of New China. Upon his return to the Western European Nuclear Research Center, he immediately put forward a proposal to the director of the institute to provide China with nuclear physics research equipment.
