Tsinghua University's aid to international students is both enviable and sad. The total amount of scholarships provided by Tsinghua University for international students has reached 200,800 yuan/person/year, including registration fees, tuition fees, teaching materials fees, social practice and research fees. The school also pays accommodation fees specifically for international students, with a one-time payment of 3,000 yuan per person. The living expenses of an international student during a three-year period are as high as 96,000 yuan. In addition, it also includes international student insurance in 800 yuan and free round-trip international air tickets. These grants add up to about 200 thousand, starting from the third year of master's degree, one international student is 600 thousand. Compared with Tsinghua University's annual income of around 40 billion, this amount is not too much.
At the same time, many poor students in our country can't even afford the living expenses. Under the "free" funding of international students, it can be said that this gap is very obvious. Some poor students can't even afford basic education, and some have given up before they go to college.
International students should be completely equal to domestic students, and they should not be allowed to enjoy privileges for free because of certain policies or the kindness of colleges and universities. Domestic universities should provide international students with the same services as domestic students, including accommodation, canteens, libraries and other public facilities, and the tuition fees should be the same. To some extent, this can also help domestic students and foreign students learn from each other, communicate with each other and make progress together.
