According to the list of national top-ranking universities published by the Ministry of Education, as of February, 2022, 1 1, top-ranking universities have been selected twice, with the first batch of 140 universities under construction and the latest second round of 147 universities under construction. Three universities in Shandong were selected, but none of them were Jinan University.

It is the first batch of application-oriented famous universities with Shandong characteristics, a key university in Shandong Province, a university founded by the National Engineering Practice Education Center and a famous university with Shandong characteristics. Although Jinan University has not been selected as a double-class school, it ranks in the top ten in Shandong Province and is a regional first-class university with good strength.
