Shaanxi Normal University was founded in 1944, formerly known as Shaanxi Normal University and the Education Department of Northwest University College of Literature. 1954 was renamed xi 'an Normal University. 1960 merged with Shaanxi Normal University and was named Shaanxi Normal University. 1978 was placed under the management of the Ministry of Education.
