[Training direction and goal] This major implements the training mode of "seven years' consistency, combining basic knowledge with master's knowledge, strengthening foundation, emphasizing acupuncture and massage, strengthening foreign languages and paying attention to quality", and cultivates high-level export-oriented acupuncture and massage talents with basic theoretical knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine, solid basic theoretical knowledge and skills of acupuncture and massage, solid foreign language foundation, good use of professional foreign languages for foreign exchange and certain scientific research ideas and methods.
[Curriculum] This major studied professional English in the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiaotong University for the first two years. According to the training requirements and teaching plan of English majors, we have completed the public basic courses while strengthening the basic English training.
Main subjects: basic medicine, acupuncture and massage, English. Main courses: basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine, diagnosis of traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese pharmacy, prescription, internal medicine of traditional Chinese medicine, normal human anatomy, physiology, internal medicine of western medicine, meridian science, acupoint science, acupuncture and massage therapy, massage technique, basic English and medical English.
In addition to regular course teaching, the school also provides students with opportunities to participate in various lectures and seminars of foreign medical experts, supports students to participate in various social practices, such as translation volunteers attending international conferences, English interpreters in school museums, and the establishment of English newspapers, so as to strengthen students' practical ability in English listening, speaking and medical English.
[Degree Awarding] Those who have completed the required credits and passed the examination are allowed to graduate. Those who meet the conditions for granting master's degree in our school will be awarded a master's degree in medicine and a five-year bachelor's degree in medicine. Those who do not meet the conditions for granting a master's degree, but meet the conditions for granting a bachelor's degree after examination, shall be awarded a bachelor's degree in medicine.
