Who founded Tsinghua University?
Tsinghua University was founded by Zhou Ziqi.

1908, Zhou Ziqi came back from the United States as a foreign affairs consultant. Soon, he was promoted to Zuo Shen, You Cheng and Zuo Cheng. In the same year, the U.S. government decided to refund some money from boxer indemnity to run a school, and sent China students to study in the United States. 1928 officially changed its name to National Tsinghua University.

During the supervision of Ren You Aesthetics Office and Tsinghua School, Zhou Ziqi personally presided over the selection. His principle of choosing students to study in the United States is "rather short than extravagant". Students should be proficient in Chinese, strong in body, pure in character, innocent in family background and not disfigured. After examination and careful selection, three batches of 180 students studying in the United States were selected. Many of these students studying in the United States later became the pillars of the country, such as Mei Yiqi, Zhao Yuanren, Zhu Kezhen and Hu Shi.
