Introduction of Yangon University
From 65438 to 0958, Mandalay University became an independent university. Prior to this, all higher education institutions were in Yangon University in Myanmar. 1964 "University Education Law" was promulgated, and all professional colleges such as Medical College, Yangon Institute of Technology and Yangon Institute of Economics became independent universities, with humanities, science and engineering and law as the main disciplines. From the beginning, Rangoon University was filled with the discontent of Myanmar citizens throughout the history of Myanmar, and three national anti-British strikes (1920, 1936, 1938) broke out here. Aung San Suu Kyi, Wu Nu, Wu Naiwen and U Thant, leaders of the anti-colonial movement, are all alumni of Yangon University. 1962, 1974, 1988 and 1996, movements against colonialism and oppressive rule broke out here.
