1, general situation

Hebei University Library is located in the new campus of Hebei University in Baoding. The former library of Hebei University, Beijiang Museum, was founded in 192 1. It is an affiliated library of the Technology and Business University founded by the French Catholic Church in Tianjin.

With a building area of 32,846 square meters and a collection of more than 3.9 million books, it is one of the national key protection units of ancient books approved by the Ministry of Culture of the State Council.

2. Historical evolution

192 1 year, the French Catholic Church established the affiliated library of Technology and Business University in Tianjin. At the beginning of the building, it was slightly larger.

1926, 1 1 June, the undergraduate teaching building was completed, and the second floor at the east end of the building is the library. The library is divided into two parts, the lower part is the library and the upper part is the reading room. Most of the books are in Chinese, English and French, and the reading room can accommodate more than 100 people. It is the library of Tianjin Technology and Business University.

1August, 933, it was renamed Tianjin Institute of Technology Library with the school.

1939 Tianjin was flooded and the library was seriously affected.

1940, all moved to the former site of Beijiang Museum.

1943 changed its name to the library in memory of Gong, the president of the school.

1948 In August, the school was renamed as private Jingu University, and this library was also named as private Jingu University Library.

1951September, Tianjin Municipal People's Government officially took over the school, and the library is still called Jingu University Library, that is, Jingu University Public Library.

On September 13, the library began to use the new chapter, and the old chapter was invalid. At this time, the librarian is Li Shilin, the former dean of the College and director of the Foreign Languages Department. During his tenure, Li Shilin completed the transfer of university libraries, so that all the books of the original transfer unit were managed by the school library.

1952 10 month, renamed Tianjin Normal University Library.

1August, 958, renamed Tianjin Normal University Library. During this period, Li served as the librarian. Li, Ph.D. in Social Economics, Frankfurt, Germany, has profound knowledge, rigorous working attitude, attaches importance to the construction of books in the collection, is honest, and is deeply respected and loved by teachers and students.

July 1960 was renamed Hebei University Library.

1970 65438+February, moved to Baoding with the school, located in the south campus of Hebei University.

In order to meet the needs of teaching and scientific research in the school, the construction of the new museum was started in September 1989, and the new museum was completed in June 1992, and the old and new museums were merged into one.

1September, 997, with the establishment of the campus network of Hebei University, the whole library realized the automatic management of various services based on the campus network environment.

In 2006, Hebei Staff Medical College was merged into our school, and the library was also under unified management.

In 20 16, the new campus library was completed and put into use, with a construction area of 38,000 square meters and 2,650 reading chairs. It is a large modern university library that is fully open.

At present, the library consists of the new campus general library, the branch library of the headquarters, the branch library of the medical department and the reference room of 19 hospital (center), and consists of comprehensive office, resource construction center, learning support center, ancient books collection center, technology and data center, research support center and other departments.
