School of Information Engineering is the training base of IT talents in Guangdong Province, with five teaching units, including communication engineering department, electronic information engineering department, measurement and control technology department, applied electronic technology department and college experiment center. It has two first-class master's programs in information and communication engineering, instrument science and technology, and two master's programs in power electronics and power transmission; 2 authorized points in the field of master of engineering; 1 provincial key support disciplines; Information engineering, measurement and control technology and instruments are all famous brands in Guangdong Province. The college has four provincial and ministerial key laboratories: Guangdong Electric Vehicle Driving Device Laboratory, Guangdong Higher Education Modern Information Technology Laboratory, Guangdong Higher Education Modern Communication Technology Laboratory and Guangdong Higher Education Information Technology Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center.

In 2009, the Institute and Midea Group established Guangdong Embedded Software Technology Center and Guangdong University of Technology Radio Frequency Identification Engineering Technology Center.
