My Origin with Tibet
I have been painting Tibet for 37 years. The days in Tibet are my most unforgettable life experience, and Tibet is my most important painting theme.
In my college days, I was full of fantasies about distant places. I like reading Jack London and Hemingway's books and yearn for their legendary experiences. 1983 the exhibition and publication of Tibetan paintings in Chen Danqing touched me a lot. I was attracted by the image of Tibetans on the plateau, Tibetan culture on the plateau and nature on the plateau, and I realized that there was such a magical place and such a simple nation.
From "Children of Guoluo"
Some of his masterpieces.
1984 graduated from university and gave up the opportunity to stay and teach at Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts. Despite the opposition and obstruction of family members and the temptation of friends, he volunteered to be assigned to Tibet. That summer, I only got on the westbound train, flew from Xi 'an to Lhasa, enrolled in Tibet University and became a teacher.
Just arrived in Lhasa, less than 2 1 year old. I am naive. All the students I teach are older than me. I have lived in the plateau for thirteen years, and I will return to the plateau every year after being transferred to Tianjin. In recent years, thousands of sketches and large-scale creations have appeared in Tibetan areas. I always feel that I grew up in Tibet, and the experience of Tibet has always nourished me. The most important thing that Tibet has given me is that its mountains, rivers and religious culture have established a grand and profound aesthetic reference for me. I chose to paint Tibet because Tibetans still have human nature that has not been alienated by modern civilization. Kindness, piety, simplicity, harmony with nature and harmony with the soul are all inspirations from Tibet.
Children of Guoluo in Yu Xiaodong in 2009.
To celebrate the completion and opening of the Tibet Art Museum, I donated the work "Children of Guoluo". It is one of my creative works and masterpieces many years ago. In the middle of the year, this painting participated in many exhibitions such as A Report and Snow tibetan songs, and was exhibited in China Art Museum and Tianjin Art Museum, and was included in albums and publications such as Yu Dong Painting Collection, A Report and Snow tibetan songs.
I like this painting so much that I have repeatedly refused the collector's insistence on buying its image. The four children in Guoluo are really like children and are reluctant to give up. Tibet Art Museum asked me for works. The first thing that came to mind was this reluctant painting. Only when this painting returns to my first hometown is it most appropriate. The four children of Guoluo came to Lhasa years ago, aged six to three, and came to two pilgrimage families together. This time, they can return to Tibet to make a pilgrimage to Lhasa with my wish on oil painting.
1996- 1997 wrote a toast to Tibet.
When I first arrived in Tibet in the 1980s, I made friends with a group of Lhasa artists who were active in the 1980s, mainly studying in Tibet. Cheers to Tibet, which was completed near the time of internal adjustment, made friends who died, went abroad, went abroad and stayed behind come to their own pictures and completed a virtual party.
1994' s composition was selected into the national art exhibition six times.
Vermeer's composition borrows the basic framework of the master's classic works and replaces it with a corner of my own studio in modern Lhasa. It is an attempt to pay tribute to the classics, and learning from the masters has become my teaching means to teach students and guide myself. From the first national art exhibition in 1994 to the third national art exhibition in 20 19, this painting has been selected for six consecutive national art exhibitions in the past 25 years.
In 2004, "Red at the Turn of the Road" won the bronze prize in Tianjin National Art Exhibition.
In the first few years in Tianjin, I always had deep and complicated feelings for Lhasa. Every winter, I feel that I have been summoned to a mature "hometown". The rapid changes in Lhasa often make my Tibet unacceptable. Xue Xue in those days has now occupied an important position in Tibet. In those years, Xue Hejing, Qin, Bao, Gade and Aza became the closest friends in Tibet. They came to the hometown of objects that often appear in paintings many times, lived in the homes of Tibetan friends, and successively created the series of Zhuanjingdao and Pilgrims.
Arizona student, founded in 2008.
The first thing I learned from my working methods over the years is to get along well with the Tibetan people. Draw dignity, smile in the sun, beautiful clothes they think, healthy mood. Don't describe bitterness and sadness. This is another kind of truth and profundity, which includes disharmonious color relations, disharmonious ornaments, and a mix of tradition and modernity. Ariza's Pupils is such a work.
Lantern Festival was created on 20 14.
Lantern Festival is a special festival in the holy city of Lhasa. It should have a history of 600 years, and it is the day to commemorate the death of the master Zong Kaba. In recent years, there are no more believers holding butter lamps to prevent fire in Lhasa Lantern Festival. Only the lantern stands in the Buddhist temple can be transplanted, and several main characters in this painting all appear in the Lantern Festival.
Farming Festival was founded on 20 15.
I specially painted a Plough Sacrifice with a width of two or six for the Mao Museum in Tibet, and that painting has been donated to the Mao Museum, realizing my long-cherished wish to leave a painting for Tibet for many years.
Every spring ploughing season, I will think of this favorite theme again. In Duilong Deqing County, a suburb of Lhasa, the memory of celebrating Ploughing Festival is unforgettable. Singing accompanied by shouting, smoke rolling, vigorous. I want to draw it to my heart's content, surging and shocking. In this way, the enthusiasm and simplicity are solidified in their own pictures and given back to the audience in Tibet through donations.
The ancient tea-horse road, after two rounds, was signed one by one.
China's Artistic Creation Process of Historical Themes in Ming Dynasty
The ancient tea-horse road, a large-scale historical painting, is one of the topics in the "5,000-year artistic creation project of Chinese civilization". It took nearly three years from winning the bid in the sketch to the completion of the creation. Everything in the photo is what I love and am very familiar with. The images of Kangba people and horses fascinate me!
The last sketch was rehearsed on an open piece of paper, just like the scene in front of me, where people shouted horses and smoke flew. This group of people came alive. The color draft is very small, and my experience is that the overall relationship of the big picture will be clearer only in the smallest picture. Inspired by romanticism and Rubens, 100 years ago, the tenacious life on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau had the texture of stone carving and cast iron.
20 19 "sunshine in the classroom" won the third national art exhibition in Beijing.
In 200 1 year, under the Nyainqentanglha Snow Mountain in Dangxiong County, I lived in the home of Sonan Tashi in Jiagen No.4 Village and became good friends with the shepherd boy Geno. There are classes in Hope Primary School, which has become the big picture I want to draw most. I was deeply moved by the clear eyes and attentive expressions of the children when they were reading like songs. Twenty years ago, there was a group painting of Dangxiong Hope Primary School.
"Crossing" created in 2020
The big painting "Crossing" is my more important creation in recent years. This painting has a mature idea in 1997, which is the creative impulse aroused by the experience of crossing the river by boat several times at Sanyesi ferry. A boatman crossed the river and went to the Sanye Temple on the other side to worship. Samye Temple, founded by Master Lotus Peanut, is the first "three treasures of Buddhism" in Tibet and the best symbol of pure land.
Peaceful liberation of Tibet in 2020
The huge oil painting "Peaceful Liberation of Tibet" is the artistic creation process of the country to declare the founding of the party for a hundred years. In the past two years, this sketch has been reviewed and revised many times. The official paintings were made continuously during the epidemic prevention and control period of four or five copies this year. I have been planning to paint this painting since years ago, and I have been making progress in the collection of historical photos and the preparation of costume props. The original sketch painting also began as early as years ago.
202 1 Long turning road
Infinite Turning Diameter was first conceived at 200 1. The original plan was to draw a long scroll to show everyone's life, illness, death and death through the pilgrimage team on the way to Tibet, and to express the theme of life cycle with animals and people of different ages.
