Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, formerly known as Shanghai Devon Medical College founded by Dr. Baolong, a German doctor, on 1907. 1927 changed its name to National Tongji University Medical College, 1950 moved from Shanghai to Wuhan, and merged with Wuhan University Medical College to be named Central South Tongji Medical College. 1955 was renamed Wuhan Medical College, and 1985 was renamed Tongji Medical University. In May 2000, according to the overall arrangement of the national education system reform and the spirit of the document of the Ministry of Education, Huazhong University of Science and Technology was merged with Huazhong University of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Wuhan Urban Construction College and Cadre Management College to form Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
