What is the Moore College Land Grant Act?
1862, President Lincoln signed the Morelle Act. The bill stipulates that the federal government grants land to the States at the standard of 30 thousand acres per member, and the amount of land granted depends on the number of members of congress owned by each state; States should use land transfer income to establish or fund agricultural and mechanical technical colleges. Most states use this fund to establish agricultural or mechanical technical colleges, while some states attach agricultural or mechanical technical colleges to existing universities. Before 1880, Cornell University was established according to the Moreel Act, which helped 1 1 state to establish universities or colleges, built eight new agricultural and mechanical colleges, and established six colleges specially for blacks. The development of land-grant colleges has determined the direction of higher education serving industrial and agricultural production, and changed the situation that the development of higher education is not closely related to social needs to a certain extent.
