Hubei Automobile College is the only provincial-level undergraduate college with profound engineering background and named after automobiles. It is located in Shiyan City, Hubei Province, at the northern foot of Wudang Mountain, a world-famous Taoist cultural shrine, on the bank of Xiushui Hanjiang River, the source of South-to-North Water Transfer Project, and the commercial vehicle capital of China. The school's predecessor was the Workers' University founded by Dongfeng Motor Company (formerly China No.2 Automobile Factory) in 1972 to meet the urgent demand of the country for automobile manufacturing talents.
The school has 10 teaching units, such as School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Electrical and Information Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Automotive Engineering and School of Economic Management.
