The Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture, formerly known as the Civil Engineering Department of Bengbu Senior Industrial Vocational School in Anhui Province, was one of the three majors in the early days of 1945. The School of Civil Engineering and Architecture now has 7 departments, 9 laboratories and 1 computing center.

Hefei University of Technology is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a national key construction university of "2 1 1 Project" and an innovative platform for advantageous disciplines of "985 Project".

The School of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering of Hefei University of Technology has a history of more than 60 years. The College was originally established in 1945 from the Civil Engineering Department of Bengbu Industrial Vocational School in Anhui Province. 1970 The majors of water conservancy engineering, water conservancy and hydropower construction engineering and agricultural water conservancy engineering of Anhui University of Water Conservancy and Electric Power were merged into the Department of Construction Engineering of Hefei University of Technology. 1999 The Department of Civil Engineering, the Department of Architectural Engineering and the Department of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics were partially merged to form the School of Civil Architecture and Engineering. In 2007, the college was established.
