From June 65438 to June 1999, Xinjiang Radio and TV University was approved as one of the first provincial radio and TV universities in China to carry out the pilot project of talent training mode reform and open education of Central Radio and TV University (hereinafter referred to as the "pilot project").

In the autumn of 2000, with the approval of the Central Radio and TV University, Xinjiang Radio and TV University started the pilot project of open education for primary education majors in ethnic minority colleges, and then carried out some undergraduate pilot projects, which opened a new chapter in the development history of modern distance open education for ethnic minorities in Xinjiang. In 2002, our school successfully passed the mid-term evaluation of the "pilot project" of the Ministry of Education. In May 2006, our school successfully passed the summative evaluation of the "pilot project" of the Ministry of Education.
