Hunan Normal University was founded in 1938, located in the famous historical and cultural city of Changsha. It is a national "2 1 1 project" key university, a national "double-class" university, and a "double-class" university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Hunan Province. It is an excellent university in the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level in ordinary colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education and a "world-class discipline" in Hunan Province.

The school covers an area of nearly 3000 mu, with a building area of 1, 3 1, 000 square meters.
