Zhejiang University, referred to as "Zhejiang University", is located in Hangzhou, a paradise on earth. Qiushi Academy, formerly known as 1897, is one of the earliest modern institutions of higher learning founded by China people themselves. 1928 was renamed as National Zhejiang University. During the Republic of China, under the leadership of Zhu Kezhen, Zhejiang University rose to be one of the highest universities in the Republic of China, and was praised as "Oriental Cambridge" by Needham, a British scholar, and ushered in the most glorious period in the century-old history of Zhejiang University. Zhu Kezhen, the old president, became the greatest person in the history of Zhejiang University because of his historical contribution, and established the motto of "seeking truth" and the classical Chinese "School Song of Zhejiang University" for Zhejiang University.
Directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), Zhejiang University is one of the first 7 "2 1 1 projects" and the first 9 "985 projects" in China. He is a member of Nine Universities Alliance, China University Presidents Association, World University Alliance and Pacific Rim University Alliance, and is the "Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program" and "Excellent Agriculture and Forestry Talents Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education.
