Northeast Forestry University is a national key university featuring forestry engineering and integrating agriculture, science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, medicine and art. It is a national key construction institution of "2 1 1 Engineering" and "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform". Selected in "20 1 1 plan", "excellent engineer education and training plan", "11plan" and "excellent agricultural and forestry talents education and training plan", the State Forestry Administration and the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province jointly established a university with a graduate school.

By the end of 20 14, there were 1 national key laboratories, 2 national and local joint engineering laboratories, 3 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, 4 key laboratories of the State Forestry Administration, 5 key laboratories of Heilongjiang Province and 1 key research bases of humanities and social sciences in Heilongjiang Province.
