Hangzhou Dianzi University, referred to as "Hangdian", is located in Hangzhou. It is a university jointly established by Zhejiang Provincial People's Government and National Defense Science, Technology and Industry Bureau. It is a teaching and research university with outstanding electronic information characteristics, obvious economic management advantages and mutual penetration of engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law and art.

It is one of the first five key universities in Zhejiang province, the only national defense major among provincial universities, and a member of the Yangtze River Delta high-level industry-specific university alliance.

It has been selected into the national "11plan", the "excellent engineer education and training plan" of the Ministry of Education, the national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training plan, the national new engineering research and practice project, and the national graduate employment typical experience colleges. It is a doctoral degree awarding unit with master's exemption right, and the global IELTS test center.

By April 2023, the school had five campuses, namely Xiasha, Wen Yi, Dongyue, Xiasha East and Qingshan Lake, covering an area of more than 2,500 mu. There are 19 colleges and teaching units, 1 independent colleges and 48 undergraduate enrollment majors;
