Extended knowledge

Undergraduate course is the basic part of higher education, generally enrolling high school graduates or those with equivalent education. The length of study is four years for most majors and five years for a few majors (the length of study for part-time undergraduate education depends on the situation).

Undergraduate education is mainly divided into part-time undergraduate and full-time undergraduate. Full-time undergraduates are mainly admitted by the national unified entrance examination of ordinary colleges and universities, and they are studying at school, and their academic qualifications are ordinary higher education. Part-time undergraduate courses are usually adult education, online education, open education and higher education self-study exams.

By September 2020 1, there will be 2,738 colleges and universities nationwide. Among them, there are 1270 undergraduate colleges, including 2 1 undergraduate vocational schools (see the list of national colleges and universities for details).

According to the different admission batches required by the college entrance examination, undergraduate courses are divided into advance batches, one batch, two batches and three batches, and some provinces and cities enroll students in a unified way, and admission batches are no longer divided. These admission batches belong to the same level and the same education (that is, the undergraduate education level).

In terms of college entrance examination enrollment, the batches and classifications of admission in each province are similar, including undergraduate approval in advance, undergraduate approval in one batch, undergraduate approval in two batches, undergraduate approval in three batches, artistic undergraduate approval in A and B batches and artistic undergraduate approval in three batches. Some provinces and cities have merged a batch of undergraduate courses, two batches of undergraduate courses and three batches of undergraduate courses, and the admission batches are no longer divided.

From the nature of running a school, it can be divided into public undergraduate and private undergraduate. Including public one, public two and private two.

The differences in the levels of undergraduate education (subordinate, provincial and municipal), the differences in the system and nature of undergraduate education (public and private), the differences in undergraduate tuition fees determined by the school-running system, and the similarities and differences in undergraduate diploma have nothing to do with the level of undergraduate institutions and the level of "education, diploma".

In recent years, the state and the Ministry of Education have actively promoted the reform of college enrollment batches, and the merger of college enrollment batches reflects the overall direction of national reform.

By the end of 20 16, Shanghai, Tianjin, Hebei, Zhejiang, Shandong, Fujian, Sichuan, Guangxi, Hubei, Jiangxi, Liaoning, Guangdong, Inner Mongolia, Chongqing, Guizhou and other provinces 15 have cancelled three batches of undergraduate courses and achieved positive results. Canceling the batch is of great and far-reaching significance in alleviating the anxiety of basic education and college entrance examination.

Beijing, Henan, Anhui and Jiangsu canceled three batches on 20 17, and other provinces are to be determined. Shandong, Hainan and Zhejiang will cancel all batches of 20 17, and Jiangxi will also cancel all batches of 20 18. Undergraduate enrollment is no longer divided into batches for the college entrance examination, promoting fairness and justice in education and employment.

In 20 16, Shanghai took the lead in merging the first batch of undergraduate courses and the second batch of undergraduate courses into one batch, and Shanghai has achieved very positive results. The state supports all provinces in the country to cancel all batches as soon as possible, promote the administration of education and schools according to law, and promote the college entrance examination and the deepening reform of colleges and universities.
