Acupuncture Department is an independent clinical department of the First Hospital of Zhongshan, which was established in 1978. There are 4 consulting rooms, 25 treatment beds, and a number of instruments such as electro-acupuncture instrument, electromagnetic spectrum therapeutic instrument and electronic moxibustion instrument. The department mainly undertakes the diagnosis and treatment services for outpatients and inpatients, applies the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, highlights the characteristics of traditional acupuncture, and combines modern medical theory and scientific and technological achievements. Acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, plum blossom needle, acupoint injection, acupoint catgut embedding, scraping, massage and other methods are mainly used, which have unique advantages in treating various pains, various functional diseases, sensory and motor disorders. Acupuncture therapy has the advantages of remarkable curative effect, wide indications, simple operation, economy and safety, and is well received by the broad masses of the people. The main indications are: sequelae of cerebrovascular accident, sequelae of brain injury, cerebral palsy in children, spinal cord injury, facial paralysis, cold, asthma, cough, rhinitis, insomnia, headache, dizziness, cervical spondylosis, scapulohumeral periarthritis, lumbago and leg pain, osteoarthritis, chronic gastritis, gastrointestinal neurosis, diarrhea, constipation, hiccup, dysmenorrhea, functional uterine bleeding, chronic adnexitis and enuresis.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a combination of TCM and western medicine, teaching and scientific research. At present, there are 39 medical technicians, including 6 professors (chief physicians), 9 associate professors (deputy chief physicians), 9 lecturers (attending physicians), 4 residents, 9 nurses, teaching assistants 1 person and technicians 1 person. Doctoral knowledge is relatively high, including 3 doctors and master 1 1 person. It is one of the large-scale diagnosis and treatment research centers of traditional Chinese medicine and integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine in Guangdong Comprehensive West Hospital, and has many experts and professors of traditional Chinese medicine who have certain influence in this field in the province and even in South China. Chinese medicine clinics and osteopathy clinics have specialties such as cardiovascular, hepatobiliary, gastrointestinal, respiratory, nephropathy, tumor rehabilitation, senile diseases, rheumatism, gynecology, pediatrics and osteoarthropathy. General clinics and specialist clinics are available every day, and a large number of professor clinics are also set up. Orthopedic clinic also provides Chinese medicine services such as manipulative reduction, massage, traction and external application. Chinese medicine clinics and osteopathy clinics have obvious characteristics of Chinese medicine, and receive patients from all over the world 1200 people on average every day.
Dermatology is a comprehensive medical unit integrating clinical, teaching and scientific research, and it is one of the dermatology and venereal diseases disciplines with large scale, complete equipment and strong technical force in domestic teaching hospitals. The construction of talent echelon in our department is reasonable, with 2 full professors, 2 chief physicians, 2 associate professors, 6 deputy chief physicians, 5 nurses in charge, 1 technician in charge, 2 technicians and 9 nurses. Among them, there are 4 doctoral supervisors 1 person and 4 master supervisors. The staff of the department are members of Guangdong Dermatology Society, Guangdong Medical Doctor Association Dermatology Branch, Pathology Group of Chinese Dermatology Society, Treatment Group of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Society, Guangdong Laser Society and Guangdong Allergy Society. In 2006, our department introduced a dermatologist who was studying for a doctorate in western countries to return to China as the head of the department, which greatly strengthened the innovation and leap of the discipline in medical teaching and scientific research.
