Peking University Institute of Mathematical Sciences was established on the basis of 1995 Peking University Department of Mathematics and Department of Probability and Statistics. There are five departments of mathematics, probability statistics, scientific and engineering calculation, information science and financial mathematics, and three undergraduate majors of mathematics and applied mathematics, information and computing science and statistics. With complete disciplines, equal emphasis on teaching and scientific research, and simultaneous development of theory and application, it is a mathematical science research and talent training base with important international influence. The current headmaster is Tian Gang, and the party secretary is Zhang.
