College English is divided into three levels, four levels and six levels. English major exams are divided into Band 4 and Band 8. PETS of public English test is divided into 1 ~ 5 grades; BEC of Cambridge Business English is divided into Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3. The Translation Qualification Examination (CATTI) is divided into interpretation and translation, which are level one, two and three respectively. Professional title English test is divided into primary, intermediate and advanced.
1. College English Test
The National College English Test is a national teaching test administered by the Ministry of Education. Its purpose is to objectively and accurately measure the actual English ability of college students and provide services for college English teaching. The national college English test is divided into three levels, four levels and six levels.
Second, the English major exam.
English proficiency test is divided into TEM-4 (TEM-4) and TEM-8, which is an undergraduate teaching test to test the implementation of the syllabus for English majors in colleges and universities nationwide.
College English major: the highest level is TEM-8. Certificates that English majors must obtain. Many universities are not allowed to apply in advance in order to ensure the passing rate.
University four: the fourth semester of English major (the second semester of sophomore year in April); 8th grade: The eighth semester of English major (March of the next semester of senior year) is advanced. Results: Of the three grades, 60-69 was qualified, 70-79 was good, and above 80 was excellent. Certificates issued after passing the examination are valid for life.
There are only two opportunities for TEM-4 and TEM-8, and make-up exams will be made at the same time the following year. Grade four is in April, and Grade eight is in March, that is, the following March after graduation from college. Since 2003, if you fail in the exam, you can take it again, but a certificate will be issued after passing it. So, try to get through once and for all.
3. Public English Examination System
Public English test is a national English proficiency test system designed and responsible by the examination center of the Ministry of Education. As an educational exchange and cooperation project between the Chinese and British governments, it received technical support from British experts in the design process. The level is divided into pets-1 to 5.
PETS- 1: the first level is the primary level, and its examination requirements are slightly higher than the English level of junior high school graduates (PETS- 1B is the subsidiary level of the national English level examination).
Pets-2: The second level is the lower level, which is equivalent to the English level of outstanding graduates of ordinary high schools (the qualified written test scores of this level can replace the English test scores of self-taught college (I) and diploma exams).
Pets-3: Level 3 is an intermediate level, which is equivalent to the level of China students who have studied English in colleges and universities for two years after graduating from high school or have taught themselves English courses of the same level. Passing the written test at this level can replace the self-taught English (II) test scores of undergraduates.
Pets-4: CET-4 is the upper-middle level, which is equivalent to the level of China students who have studied English for at least 3-4 years at university or have taught themselves English courses of the same level after graduating from high school.
Pets-5: Band 5 is the highest level, which is equivalent to the level of college English majors in China at the end of the second year.
It is an English proficiency test specially designed for those who apply for public study abroad.
Fourth, Cambridge Business English BEC (Cambridge Business English)
Cambridge Business English Test is an examination held by the Examination Center of the Ministry of Education and the Examination Committee of Cambridge University since 1993. This series of exams is a proficiency test. According to the actual needs of business work, the ability of candidates to use English in business and general living environment is comprehensively investigated from four aspects: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Those who pass the examination will receive the unified standard certificate issued by the examination Committee of Cambridge University. The certificate is valid for life.
Verb (abbreviation of verb) translation qualification examination
There are two kinds of translation qualification examinations in China, one is the "National Certificate Examination for Foreign Language Translation" jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and Beijing Foreign Studies University, and the other is the "Professional Qualification (Level) Examination for Translation" organized by the Ministry of Personnel. Among them, the national foreign language translation certificate examination is a non-academic certificate examination for all citizens, which mainly tests the candidates' translation and interpretation ability.
Sixth, the professional title English test
The National English Test for Professional and Technical Personnel is a foreign language test organized and implemented by the Ministry of Personnel. According to the application characteristics of English in different professional fields and the actual situation of professional and technical personnel mastering and applying English, different requirements are put forward for professional and technical personnel applying for different professional titles.
The English grade test for professional titles is divided into three grades: A, B and C, and is divided into three professional categories: comprehensive, science and engineering and health. The examination mainly tests the ability of professional and technical personnel to read and understand foreign professional basic documents. Candidates can choose a language and related categories to take the exam according to their professional work. The national English test for professional titles is generally held in late March each year. Professional title English can only be used once. Foreign language B is required to apply for intermediate title, and foreign language B will be invalid after passing intermediate title. If you want to take the senior title, you need to take the foreign language A. After passing the senior title, the foreign language A score will be invalid. Foreign languages are valid for life, and others are limited in time. After CET6-6, you can be exempted from the English test for professional titles.
Different levels of requirements for English vocabulary;
A level knows about 6000 words and a certain number of phrases.
