Three Gorges College was founded in 1956,1March 1994 and approved by the former State Education Commission as an ordinary undergraduate college. The school covers an area of 1980 mu with a building area of more than 300,000 square meters. It is located in Wanzhou District, Chongqing, the capital of immigrants in the Millennium ancient city. It is a multi-disciplinary undergraduate college.

The school now has four teaching colleges (departments): School of Economics and Management, School of Literature and Journalism, School of Foreign Languages, School of Fine Arts, School of Physical Education, School of Mathematics and Computer, School of Physics and Electronic Engineering, School of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, School of Applied Technology, School of Adult Education, School of Political Science and Law, Department of Ethnology, Department of Biology and Department of Architectural Engineering.

As well as teaching auxiliary units such as experimental centers and network centers, covering more than 70 undergraduate and specialist majors in 9 disciplines, enrolling students in 28 provinces and cities (autonomous regions). It has formed a discipline structure with arts and sciences as the mainstay and the coordinated development of industry, economics, management, law, history, teaching and agriculture.

With undergraduate education as the main body, higher vocational education, adult education and foreign students' education develop in harmony.
