The architecture major of Huazhong University of Science and Technology is to cultivate general and compound senior engineering and technical talents with knowledge of architectural design, urban design and interior design, who can engage in design work in the design department and have various professional adaptability.

Students majoring in this major mainly study basic theories and knowledge such as architectural design, urban planning principles and architectural engineering technology. And have received training in architectural design, and have the basic ability of project planning, architectural design scheme and architectural construction drawing.

Architecture mainly studies the basic knowledge and skills of building structure, design, materials, environment and construction, involving architectural design, urban design, interior design, municipal design and other aspects, and carries out the design and planning of various buildings. For example: the design of building construction scheme and construction drawing, the layout planning of large-scale urban buildings, the interior decoration design of houses, etc.

After graduation, I mainly engaged in urban and rural construction system, engaged in architectural design, urban design, landscape design, interior design, and also engaged in planning, design, supervision, management, education, development, consulting and other work of design departments, governments and related fields. Postgraduate entrance examination directions include architectural history and theory, architecture, architectural and civil engineering, industrial design engineering, architectural design and its theory.

Graduates should have the following knowledge and abilities:

1, solid foundation in natural science, good foundation in humanities and social sciences, and strong comprehensive foreign language ability.

2. Master the basic principles and methods of architectural design, have the ability to design independently and express the design intention in various ways, and have the preliminary computer text, graphics and data processing ability.

3. Understand the development law of Chinese and foreign architectural history, master the relationship between human physiology, psychology, behavior and architectural environment, basic economic knowledge, social and cultural customs, laws and regulations related to architecture, and related knowledge of the edge and interdisciplinary of architecture.

4. Master the relationship between building structure and building equipment system and building safety, economy, applicability and aesthetics, the principles and methods of building structure, the performance of common building materials and new materials and other basic knowledge. Have reasonable selection and comprehensive application ability, and have certain organization and coordination ability among multiple positions.
