During his tenure as deputy secretary and vice president of Nankai University, Comrade He Xilin personally taught students, paying special attention to educating students on the Party's three major styles of work. During his tenure as deputy director of the Institute of World Economics of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of China Academy of Sciences, Comrade He Xilin rigorously studied and actively promoted the research on the economic development trend of the United States and other western developed countries, which provided valuable information for the formulation of China's national economic plan. During the "Cultural Revolution", Comrade He Xilin suffered a blow, but he remained steadfast and firmly believed that the cause of the party and the people would return to the correct path of Marxism.
During his tenure as a consultant to central compilation and translation bureau, Comrade He Xilin was very concerned about the compilation of the Complete Works of Marx, Engels and Lenin, and actively offered suggestions and participated in academic seminars. After retirement, he is still always concerned about the development of the party and the country. In his 90s, He Xilin insisted on watching TV news, reading and studying every day, put forward many valuable suggestions for the development of the Compilation Bureau, and actively assisted the Compilation Bureau in organizing exhibitions of Marxism in China, giving interviews and writing memoirs. He Xilin is very concerned about the growth and progress of the younger generation of the compilation bureau. He often tells young comrades about the party's history and revolutionary traditions and encourages young comrades to work hard in their posts.
As an old party member with more than 70 years' party experience, Comrade He Xilin is selfless, honest, indifferent to fame and fortune, and strict with himself. In recent years, He Xilin took the lead in donating money and materials to disaster-stricken areas and poverty-stricken areas, and responded positively. After the Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan, the Yushu earthquake in Qinghai and the catastrophic mudslide in Zhouqu, Gansu, we paid special party dues and donations totaling 28,000 yuan. In 2009, I donated a batch of precious books that I had collected for decades to the Library of the Compilation Bureau. He Xilin also donated 500,000 yuan for the training of young talents. With this donation, the Central Compilation Bureau established the "He Xilin Young Talents Fund" and the "He Xilin Young Talents Award". He Xilin explained his infinite loyalty to the party and the people with actions and set a shining example for us.
