Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, one of the three major pharmaceutical universities in China, is the first institution of higher learning in South China to offer a series of pharmacy majors. The school was founded in 1958, formerly known as Guangdong Health Cadre College; 1978, upgraded to an ordinary undergraduate college, named Guangdong Medical College; 1994 was renamed as Guangdong Pharmaceutical University; In 2003, it became a master's authorized unit, and was renamed Guangdong Pharmaceutical University on 20 16 with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
