The main body of China English Proficiency Scale has been developed, which is expected to be officially released in 20 17, and the national English Proficiency Test is planned to be launched gradually before 2020.
Professor Liu Jianda, vice president of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, said that there are about 300 million English learners in China, but the syllabus lacks coherence, there is no uniform standard for all kinds of exams, and there are many kinds of English exams. Therefore, it is urgent to formulate a unified English proficiency scale and the corresponding grade examination.
He introduced that the newly developed China English Proficiency Scale will be divided into nine grades. Among them, grade one or grade two roughly corresponds to the primary school level, grade three corresponds to junior high school, grade four corresponds to senior high school, grade five or six corresponds to universities, grade seven corresponds to English majors, and grade eight or nine corresponds to high-end foreign language talents. Each level has different requirements in listening, speaking, reading, writing, translation and knowledge strategy. At present, there are many mature English evaluation systems abroad, and China's English proficiency rating scale will also connect with them.
At the same time, experts are still working on designing a national English proficiency test. At present, the development team has completed the development of two key breakthrough levels (level 5 and level 6), which will be put into use in due course on 20 17.
Professor He, Dean of the School of Foreign Language Culture and International Exchange of Zhejiang University, said that the standard of this grade examination is unified, coherent and orderly, and one test is used for many purposes, which reduces the number of repeated examinations and can meet various needs such as teaching evaluation, further studies and employment.
With reference to the rating scale and the corresponding exams, learners can judge their English level. At the same time, examiners or employers can clearly know the English ability of candidates, so as to make scientific choices.
