Southwest University of Political Science and Law is located in Chongqing. It is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, the earliest institution of higher learning in politics and law in New China, the first batch of national key universities after the reform and opening up, and the first batch of national excellent legal talents education and training plan bases.

As of March 2022, the school has three campuses, namely Yubei, Shapingba and Baosheng Lake, with a total area of more than 3,000 mu. There are more than 24,000 students and more than 2,000 faculty members. There are 5 departments, 13 college, and 28 undergraduate majors. At present, there are 2 first-class doctoral programs, 9 doctoral programs in two disciplines 19, 9 first-class discipline master programs, 45 master programs in two disciplines, and professional master programs 10.

Moral of the school emblem: the negative image in the middle of the school emblem looks like a unicorn, which is formed by ingenious changes of the first letter of each word in the pinyin of six words of Southwest University of Political Science and Law (the head and two corners form X, the nose tip is N, the unicorn in front is Z, the right eye is F, the nose tip N is added with a horizontal D, and the outer layers of the two corners are X). The whole portrait is Bao Gong's face, symbolizing the justice and majesty of the law.

The negative image in the middle and the positive image in the outer ring form a distinct color contrast and complementary effect. The front view of the outer circle consists of the name of the school written by Guo Moruo, its English translation (Southwest University of Political Science and Law) and its founding year.

The whole emblem inherits the folk tradition of China, closely combines modern consciousness and skillfully uses modern design concepts. Its implicit and abstract graphics, the specificity of Guo Laoshou's calligraphy and the foreign language of Roman fonts are isomorphic, forming a unique, strong, beautiful, generous and rich school emblem.
