Traffic management engineering majors cultivate applied professionals who are well-developed in morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetics, are familiar with road traffic management laws, regulations and related policies, have solid basic theoretical literacy, professional basic theoretical knowledge and basic skills in public security technology, public security science, law and traffic science, and can engage in traffic order management, traffic safety publicity, vehicle and driver management, traffic accident handling and accident identification in party and government organs, especially political and legal departments.

The People's Public Security University of China is an ordinary institution of higher learning directly under the Ministry of Public Security and a senior police officer college of the Ministry of Public Security. Founded in July 1948, it has gone through the periods of North China Public Security Cadre School, Central Public Security Cadre School, Central People's Public Security College and Central Political and Legal Cadre School. 1984 1 month, converted into a full-time ordinary undergraduate college. 1February 1998 merged with the former China People's Police Officers University to form a new Chinese People's Public Security University.
