School 1906 was founded in Nanjing, formerly known as "Jinan School",191closed, 19 18 reopened and renamed as "National Jinan School". 192 1 moved to Shanghai Zhenru, and 1927 was renamed as "National Jinan University". Moved to Shanghai Concession and Fujian Jianyang successively, moved to Shanghai again in 1946, and merged into Fudan and Jiaotong University in 1949. 1958 Guangzhou reconstruction, opening the name of "Jinan University". 1970 closed and 1978 reopened.

According to the school official website, as of March 2022, there were 2,732 full-time teachers in Jinan University, including 8 academicians of the two academies (including double employment), 9 foreign academicians, 2 1 person selected for the major talent project of the Ministry of Education, 43 winners of Jie Qing and You Qing, 48 "Pearl River Scholars", 2 national famous teachers, and 902 full-time and deputy senior titles.

By March 2022, Jinan University had 3 national first-class specialty construction sites, 2 provincial first-class specialty construction sites, 8 national characteristic specialty construction sites, 2 national talent training mode innovation experimental zones, 2 national comprehensive specialty reform pilots, 3 national experimental teaching demonstration centers and 3 national off-campus practical education bases.

There are 46 national first-class undergraduate courses, 46 national first-class undergraduate courses, 8 national excellent courses (including bilingual teaching demonstration courses), 5 national excellent video open courses, 5 national excellent resources * * * courses and 4 China English teaching brand courses of the Ministry of Education.
