The School of Architecture and Art of Central South University was established in May 2002.

The School of Architecture and Art of Central South University was formed by the merger of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning and the School of Art of the former School of Civil Architecture of Central South University. It is a new college integrating teaching, scientific research, design practice and artistic performance, adhering to the school-running concept of great art, great design and great creativity.

3. The college covers a wide range of disciplines and specialties, and now covers seven first-level disciplines such as engineering and art. It has five master's degree authorization points for first-level disciplines such as architecture, urban and rural planning, landscape architecture, art theory and design, and two master's degree authorization points for arts and MFA, and recruits and trains doctoral students by relying on the second-level doctoral program for civil engineering planning and management. Architecture, urban and rural planning, art theory and design are the key disciplines at the school level, and fine arts is the key discipline at the school level, with 1 provincial key research bases.
