How to treat college students' conformity psychology
Conformity is a common social psychological and behavioral phenomenon. The so-called conformity means that under the influence and pressure of the group, individuals give up their opinions and adopt behaviors consistent with the majority. Everyone thinks so, so do I. Everyone does this, and I follow suit. Conformity psychology is sometimes a means for individuals to maintain good interpersonal relationships, avoid conflicts with groups and enhance their sense of security. The so-called "following the tide" and "following the crowd" are the best examples of conformity psychology. Generally speaking, conformity psychology is forced, which is an act to meet the requirements of the group under external pressure, not out of the individual's conscious will.

As the saying goes, "the wood in the forest is beautiful in the forest, and the wind will destroy it." If an enterprise is excessively unique in the same industry, it will inevitably cause other enterprises to rise up and attack, so sometimes it is necessary to follow the crowd. For example, the intensified price war in the domestic household appliance industry is an obvious example. The manufacturer who takes the lead in provoking the price war is bound to be unanimously condemned by other manufacturers in the same industry, followed by a fierce price war, and every enterprise has to follow suit to reduce prices, otherwise it will go bankrupt because its products cannot be sold. This herd mentality is a forced behavior, but it is also a negative behavior. Thousands of troops and horses fight for the single-plank bridge, and eventually they will fall. If you are independent of the group, unique and keep your own uniqueness, you will not be negatively affected by herd mentality.

The American social psychologist Asochi designed a typical experiment to prove that under the pressure of the group, there will be obedience or conformity. Taking college students as subjects, he organized several experimental groups, with 9 people in each group. Only one of them was a real subject, and the others were arranged in advance and deliberately made a wrong judgment. Let them look at two cards at the same time. The one on the left draws only one line segment, and the one on the right draws three line segments with different lengths, A, B and C, one of which is the same length as the card on the left. Let's compare cards with three straight lines, which one is the same length as the card on the left.

Ashi has organized many such experiments, and statistical analysis shows that 37% people give up their correct judgment and obey the wrong judgment of the group. In many experiments, it is found that the judgment error is less than1%when a single person does not set traps; When an individual encounters an inaccurate answer from a member of the group, he can stick to his correct answer; When two members of the group made the wrong answer, it had a group influence, and the number of people who accepted the wrong answer reached 13.6%. When the group pressure comes from three people doing wrong answers, the proportion of wrong answers of the subjects reaches 3 1.8%.

It can be seen that conformity psychology has a great influence on people. However, the role of herd mentality is twofold, both positive and negative.

The positive effects of herd mentality are as follows:

(1) is conducive to concentrating on the same goal, at least to keep members from dragging their feet, especially in the current fierce competition, where opportunities and challenges coexist. Only by focusing on the problems and giving full play to the collective strength in time can we achieve greater results.

(2) It is conducive to enhancing the collective consciousness, and the masses of Qi Xin will work together, exchange and complement each other, produce new ways of thinking, form new forces, catch up with the advanced in backwardness, and move forward in the advanced. Even if there are some unconscious laggards in the group, they can change their ideas and behaviors under the influence of herd behavior, so as to achieve the goal of the group.

(3) Conducive to the formation of good style and habits. Managers should be good at using the positive role of herd behavior and cultivate good style and habits. If an enterprise sets up several models, it can drive some people around it. If this group of people do this, it will make another group have herd mentality, thus driving everyone to work actively.

Of course, everything is like a double-edged sword. There are both positive and negative aspects. The negative effect of conformity psychology is mainly manifested in the pressure of conformity psychology, which is easy to kill the original spirit of members. If some people have new methods or original opinions, but they are afraid of being called "pushy", they dare not say psychological words in order to avoid the risk of "slapping their heads". Some are deeply bound by "consistency", which makes some useful and original ideas buried.

In the real society, there is such a phenomenon that some people don't say it to their face, but behind their backs, it is often reasonable that reeds fall with the wind; When you meet something deeper than the world, to put it mildly, don't say good, don't say bad, no one will be surprised, let nature take its course and take no responsibility. Over time, they erode initiative and creativity, and gradually make the group lose vitality. In real life, there are many similar people, and this psychological negative effect is very harmful. To deal with this situation, we should do more education, gradually lead this kind of thing to the positive side and reduce its negative impact.

This herd mentality and herd behavior is also a common phenomenon in university campuses. Studying college students' herd behavior and herd mentality is of great significance for optimizing the group structure, using the positive influence of herd behavior and preventing its negative influence.

Learn to adapt. Students who are randomly arranged between classes and dormitories at the time of enrollment show different levels in a year or so, and there is obvious "out of sync" phenomenon, which is a common phenomenon in colleges and universities. Relatively speaking, top students, English passing grade, postgraduate entrance examination and so on. Classes and dormitories are relatively concentrated. It has become a popular landscape in the university campus that dormitory members collectively send out to participate in various certificate training courses. Conformity consumption. Entering colleges and universities can be described as an "eye-opener". Many people on campus have their own clothes and hats, and they have different tastes of smoking and drinking, such as high-grade food, fashionable clothes and famous brands of smoking. Some college students go to restaurants to eat, chase the dance floor, visit places of interest, have a spring outing, have an autumn outing, celebrate birthdays, meet friends, get scholarships and drink subsidies, and so on. College students ignore their own economic foundation and spend money lavishly. Helpless, for the sake of face, regardless of the foundation.

Love goes with the flow. In full view, men and women read a book and eat a bowl of rice together, which is in full view. "Now many fellow villagers, classmates and friends I know are in love. I have no choice but to find a show." This is the psychology of most people. Campus love is very infectious, some classes have few people to talk about at one stage, and a group of people are in love at another stage; Some dorms don't ask about "love", and some dorms are all in "love". If you don't fall in love, everyone will be completely enlightened in a few days.

Cheating and conformity. In recent years, when it became popular in society that "those who dare to die and those who starve to death are timid", the philosophy of "don't look at white" appeared on campus, and "those who don't learn deeply are spiritual", so that students who don't cheat in exams are ridiculed as "fools". "Everyone cheats, why don't I do it?" Students caught cheating will defend themselves plausibly. In addition, gambling conformity, joining the party conformity and choosing a job conformity also have a considerable market on the university campus.

Class effect and dormitory effect are the most noteworthy factors that cause college students' conformity effect. After entering school, freshmen are exploring new learning methods and seeking new learning motivation. The learning attitude, learning methods, academic achievements and the use of learning time of each member in the class and dormitory have become the most direct "reference" for other members. While forming their own learning characteristics, they are also consistent with most people in the class and dormitory in some aspects. Not only that, work and rest habits, life interests and hobbies are also easy to converge and follow the crowd, and combine with * * * to spur class and dormitory members. This shows that the "class effect" and "dormitory effect" have an effect on the class spirit and school spirit.

On the contrary, vulgar conformity often leads to the negative backwardness of class spirit and abandonment of spirit. Conformity to old classmates and fellow villagers is also a common phenomenon among freshmen. Freshmen are inexperienced and unfamiliar with the situation. They tend to simply imitate and follow others' behavior and blindly follow the crowd. This will easily lead to the end of "good is good, bad is bad". With the deepening of college life, like-minded students get together and form an "interest circle", which has become the most extensive form of college students' social interaction. The "interest circle" has great attraction to college students and often has a great influence on the formation of college students' ideas. The excessive popularity of college students' conformity behavior reflects that some college students have weak self-awareness, poor independence and lack of individual-oriented world outlook, outlook on life and values. This is the main reason for the rise of negative phenomena in conformity behavior. Even if herd behavior has a positive effect, once this herd atmosphere is lost, it is easy to be at a loss, unable to find the direction of their own efforts and move towards society. In fact, this is the most direct sequela of conformity. In addition, blindly following the crowd can easily lead to psychological barriers for college students. The direct manifestation of conformity is that thousands of troops cross the wooden bridge, and the sense of frustration and loss in the competition process can easily lead to excessive mental stress and psychological imbalance of college students. According to the survey, 20% of college students have different degrees of mental illness.

Everyone has conformity psychology, but conformity based on passivity will inevitably make your uniqueness lose its value. Blind conformity means that you have lost a clear sky and given up a territory that belongs to you. Blindly following the crowd means that some people have lost their straw hats woven by their personal thoughts and actions and become numb in the noise and turmoil. Only by getting rid of blind conformity and actively joining the collective ranks with independent thoughts and clear footprints can we have a real life of our own.
