Generally speaking, Yunnan University for Nationalities is better. Yunnan University for Nationalities is a comprehensive university to train senior professionals of all ethnic groups, and a provincial-level key university determined by the Ministry of Education, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the Yunnan Provincial People's Government.

The school was founded in 1 951August1day, formerly known as Yunnan University for Nationalities. It is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning for nationalities in People's Republic of China (PRC). In April 2003, it was renamed Yunnan University for Nationalities, and it has been 70 years since then.

Since its establishment, the school has been highly valued and cared by the party and state leaders. Party and state leaders Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao and Xi Jinping met with representatives of teachers and students in our school.

Peng, Chen Yi, Panchinadini Giorgio Igyarson, Li Lanqing, Li and ismail Ahmad visited the school in person, caring about the growth and progress of teachers and students of all ethnic groups and the construction and development of the school. The first principal and vice-principal of the school are two generals, Zhou Baozhong and Zhang Chong, vice-chairmen of Yunnan Provincial People's Government.
