Northwest University is a comprehensive national key university founded by the people of China, the Ministry of Education and the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government. Ranked among the first batch of national world-class discipline construction universities and national 2 1 1 key construction universities.
The school has three campuses: Taibai Campus, Taoyuan Campus and Chang 'an Campus, covering a total area of more than 2,360 mu. At present, there are 24 colleges (departments) and graduate schools, 1 Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run schools and 6 non-directly affiliated hospitals. There are 88 undergraduate majors, of which 37 are selected as national first-class undergraduate majors.
The school has successively won the first and second prizes of the National Natural Science Award, the second prize of the National Technological Invention Award, the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the first and second prizes of the National Teaching Achievement Award, the China Patent Gold Award, and the first prize of the Outstanding Achievement Award (humanities and social sciences) in scientific research in colleges and universities.
There are 24 first-class disciplines authorized by doctor's degree, 37 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, 18 professional degree authorized categories, and 24 post-doctoral research stations.
The school attaches great importance to foreign scientific and cultural exchanges, and has established friendly and cooperative relations with more than 20 universities and scientific research institutions in nearly 30 countries and regions such as the United States, Britain, France, Germany and Japan. The Encyclopedia Britannica once listed Northwest University as one of the world famous universities.
