The topography of Fujian province is dominated by mountains and hills, and the skeleton of Fujian topography consists of two rows of mountains in the west and the middle. Both mountains are northeast-southwest and parallel to the coast. The Xili Mountain Belt, which meanders along the border between Fujian and Jiangxi, consists of Wuyi Mountains and mountain ranges, connecting Xianxialing in Zhejiang in the north and Jiulian Mountain in Guangdong in the south.

It is about 530 kilometers long with an average elevation of 1000 meters, which is the watershed of the water systems in Fujian and Jiangxi provinces. Fenglingguan in Pucheng County, fenshuiguan in Wuyishan City, Shanguan in Guangze County, Huang Tu Pass in Shaowu City, Ganjiaguan in Jianning County and Gucheng Pass in Changting County are all very dangerous. The middle mountain area of Fujian, obliquely crossing the middle of Fujian, is cut into three parts by Minjiang River and Jiulong River. North of Minjiang River is Jiufeng Mountain Range; Daiyun Mountain Range lies between Minjiang River and Jiulong River.

South of Jiulong River is Boping Ridge. There are the highest and widest mountains in the middle of the mountain belt. The main peak of Dehua Dai Yun is 1856 meters above sea level, which is the highest peak in the Fujian-Zhongshan belt. With the main mountain in the two mountain belts as the backbone, many branches extend in all directions, forming criss-crossing peaks.

Hills are widely distributed in the outer side of mountains and coastal areas. They are either on both sides of the valley, or around the basin, or stand on the coastal headland, coastal plain, or scattered in the towering mountains.
