Hunan Agricultural University started from a private school founded on June 8, 1903, and went through the stages of Hunan Private Higher Agricultural Vocational School, Hunan Agricultural College and Hunan Agricultural College. 1951March, Hunan Agriculture and Forestry College and Hunan University Agricultural College merged to form Hunan Agricultural College; In June of the same year+10, President Mao Zedong wrote the name of the school in his own handwriting. Postgraduates begin to enroll students 1978. 1987 began to recruit doctoral students. 1994 changed its name to Hunan Agricultural University in March.
