His wife died of pulmonary embolism. Pulmonary embolism is a disease in which deep venous thrombosis flows into pulmonary artery, and then hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy occurs, which eventually leads to central failure and death.
Why does pulmonary embolism occur after fracture surgery, and should the hospital bear the responsibility?
The Second Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (hereinafter referred to as the Second Affiliated Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine) performed a fracture operation for his wife, and was rescued by Xiangya Hospital of Central South University before his death. Li decided to discuss with these two hospitals through legal channels.
On April 10, the Kaifu District Court of Changsha held a public hearing in the first instance to hear the medical damage liability dispute case. In the process of court cross-examination, the forensic expert opinion presented by Li shows that the behavior of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chinese Medicine has the same ~ main causal relationship with the patient's death.
However, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chinese Medicine held that the plaintiff did not conduct an autopsy on the patient and questioned the appraisal: "Apply for re-appraisal and apply for an appraiser to testify in court."
Her husband's teasing became her last words.
Li's wife Peng Zhifeng has been teaching English at Hunan University of Chinese Medicine for more than ten years. On the morning of May 30th, 20 15, Peng Zhifeng, 4 1 year-old, accidentally fell on his kneecap when entering the elevator. Li immediately called an ambulance and sent it to the orthopedics department of the Second Affiliated Middle School nearby for treatment. This hospital is affiliated to the school where his wife teaches.
Hospital examination photos show that Peng Zhifeng has a fracture of his right patella. On June 3, 2005, the hospital operated on Peng Zhifeng. The specific method is open reduction and hollow screw+tension band fixation. This kind of operation requires hospitalization for more than ten days. Li and his mother-in-law take care of it and invite nurses. 12 days after the operation, his wife recovered well and was ready to leave the hospital at 8 am on June 15.
Li remembers that his wife was in a good mood at that time, ate a big bowl of wonton, left the patient's phone number, and said that she wanted to change cars after discharge. After settling the account with the care worker, Li joked with his wife: "The care worker needs 150 yuan for such an easy job. Why don't you give it to me?" Peng Zhifeng joked, "Here's 250. Do you want it?"
Forever can't forget this sentence either, because it was the last sentence his wife told him. Just as Peng Zhifeng got up to exercise her legs, she suddenly sweated, pale, panting and unconscious. Subsequently, she fell into a deep coma and was transferred to the ICU of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Beijing Fayuan Forensic Medicine Material Evidence Appraisal Center quoted the hospital archives as saying, "At 8: 20 on June 15, the hospital was in critical condition and stopped breathing at 8: 57. 10, the patient's blood oxygen and blood pressure were not measured, and pulmonary embolism was considered. Consider giving thrombolytic therapy, and give intravenous thrombolysis with the consent of family members ... But the patient's pupils are dilated and there is no light reflection, which is caused by ischemic hypoxic encephalopathy ... "
