Southwest Jiaotong University, referred to as "Southwest Jiaotong University", is located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), which is jointly established by the Ministry of Education, China Railway Corporation, Sichuan Provincial People's Government and Chengdu Municipal People's Government.
It was rated as "Double First-class", "2 1 1 Engineering" and "985 Innovation Platform for Engineering Superiority", and was selected into "201Plan", "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" and "National University Student Innovation Plan". 1896 was founded in Shanhaiguan Beiyang Railway School. Since then, it has been moved and renamed many times.
Tangshan Jiaotong University enjoys a good reputation at home and abroad, and is known as "Cornell of the East". 1952 National institutions of higher learning were restructured and renamed Tangshan Railway Institute. 1960 was approved by the central government to become a national key university. 1964 The school moved to Emei, and 1972 was named Southwest Jiaotong University. 1989 The main body of the school moved to Chengdu. In 2000, the school was placed under the management of the Ministry of Education.
As of May 2023, the school has four campuses, namely Jiuli, Xipu, Emei and Chengdu East Campus, covering an area of more than 5,000 mu. There are 27 colleges and 94 undergraduate majors; There are postdoctoral research mobile stations 1 1, first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points 18, doctoral degree authorization categories 3, and first-class discipline master degree authorization points 4 1.
There are more than 2,700 full-time teachers, including 289 full-time undergraduates, 289 master students, 2,630 doctoral students and 536 international students.
