Wuhan University, referred to as "Wu Da" for short, is a famous comprehensive research university in China and the earliest national university established in modern China. It has a history of 125 years.
1893, Zhang Zhidong, Governor of Huguang, broadcast a film about the self-improvement school founded by the Qing government, which opened the curtain of modern higher education in China. 1896 changed its name to dialect school; 19 13 years, one of the six normal universities in China; 1926 was renamed as National Wuchang Sun Yat-sen University; 1928 was named National Wuhan University, which is one of the four famous universities in the Republic of China. 1949 changed its name.
Wuhan University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education. It is the first batch of "double-class" Class A, "985 Project", "21Project" and "201Plan" key construction universities in China. It is a China university with the closest contact and the widest cooperation with French universities, and an authoritative journal in the world.
By the end of 20 18, Wuhan University 16 disciplines had been ranked in the top of ESI 1% in the world, among which remote sensing science and technology ranked first in the world. In the third round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education, Wuhan University ranked first in the country in four first-level disciplines; Nine disciplines ranked in the top three, 14 disciplines ranked in the top five, and 23 disciplines ranked in the top ten.
