Later, ATM protocol withdrew from LAN, dry Ethernet protocol became the mainstream, and devices supporting ATM protocol could not be purchased. The direction of campus network construction has been changed to Gigabit Ethernet, and the dry Ethernet service board WS-X54 10 on C 1SCOCatalyst5509 has been continuously purchased, so that the main switch has the ability of dry Ethernet access, and the units with fewer nodes use wireless access, and the campus network exit has also been upgraded to 65438+.
Compared with the topology diagram above, it is not difficult to see that the network of the college has been developed and the access mode has been expanded. What aspects should be concerned about in the construction of campus network? In my opinion, to ensure the success of campus network construction, we should do the following work well:
First of all. Macro-planning and optimization structure of network construction
The capital investment in the construction of campus network is very large. The campuses of comprehensive universities are widely distributed (many campuses) and far away. Therefore, the scale and structure of campus networks vary widely, but unified planning is absolutely indispensable regardless of size.
In the initial equipment selection, our hospital considered that there would be more video courses in medical education, and the network performance could not be reduced under the condition of concurrent video streams. From the perspective of network structure, due to the relatively concentrated campus of our school, physical convergence layer devices can be replaced by mature VLAN technology, and their functions can be completed by high-performance three-layer switches, so the network structure is clearer.
Due to the rapid development of computer technology and network technology, if there is no unified planning, the built systems will be incompatible with each other or waste the initial investment. If the school foundation is poor and the level of network application is low, even if the network is built, there may be bad situations. Therefore, paying attention to planning and optimizing the network structure is the top priority of campus network construction.

In the process of network construction, we should grasp the development direction of technology, consider the overall development trend of the school, and build with foresight, especially consider the expansion and upgrading of the network. Starting from the actual needs of the college, don't sacrifice performance, which will get short-term application. In the long run, it is only a stumbling block to limit the development of the network. The equipment selection should ensure that the network requirements can be met within at least 5 years, and it can be successfully upgraded to subsequent products. The construction of the network can't be done overnight. You can build it if you have the ability. Don't spread the stall too big, and your performance will not go up. That kind of building is a waste. A good network environment has healthy development and vigorous vitality.

After the completion of the network, the flexibility of network management directly affects the stable operation of the network and the efficiency of network utilization. One can manage the network based on graphical interface, super terminal and other ways, provide multi-level and efficient implementation scenarios, ensure network security, and achieve twice the result with half the effort.
