1946, after the victory of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Bethune Health School was named Bethune Medical University to commemorate the death of Comrade Bethune.

From 65438 to 0954, Bethune Medical University merged with the Third Military Medical University, and the school was named the First Military Medical University.

1958 to local government.

1978, restore the name of Bethune Medical University.

Bethune Medical University merged with the former Jilin University, Jilin University of Technology, changchun university of science and technology University of Posts and Telecommunications and Changchun University of Posts and Telecommunications on June 12, 2000 to form a new Jilin University.

The Basic Department of Bethune Medical University merged with relevant departments of Jilin University, and other medical departments became Bethune Medical Department of Jilin University.
