Nanchang Institute of Technology is a full-time application-oriented undergraduate college with industry orientation, coordinated development of multiple disciplines and outstanding ethnic education. It is the first batch of 1+X certificate system pilot institutions of the Ministry of Education and the first batch of "pilot institutions for the transformation and development of application-oriented universities" of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government.
The school's predecessor was the private Ganjiang University founded by 1988. 1998, the school was renamed Ganjiang College. 1988, Fu Yutian, former representative of the Seventh Congress of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and former secretary of Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee, founded the private Ganjiang University. 1998, the school was renamed Ganjiang College. In 2003, the school was renamed Jiangxi Ganjiang Vocational and Technical College. In the same year, it was selected as "National College Ethnic Preparatory Education Base" by the Ministry of Education.
On April 20 1 1, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government, Nanchang Institute of Technology was established on the basis of Jiangxi Ganjiang Vocational and Technical College and became an ordinary undergraduate college. In 20 15, Jiangxi provincial people's government approved the school as one of the first ten pilot units in the province to transform into an application-oriented university.
In 20 17, the school successfully passed the qualification assessment of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education. In 20 19, it was selected as the first batch of 1+X pilot institutions of the Ministry of Education.
As of March 2023, the school has eight secondary colleges, offering 58 undergraduate majors and 26 specialist majors, covering eight disciplines including engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, art and education.
