I. Introduction to the College
The School of Mathematics and Statistics, formerly known as the Department of Mathematics of Jiaotong University, was founded in 1928. 65438-0956, Jiaotong University moved westward and established the Department of Mathematical Mechanics. 1979, the school resumed the Department of Mathematics. 65438-0994 The Department of Mathematics and the Department of Physics merged to form the School of Science. 20 1 1 Xi School of Mathematics and Statistics of Jiaotong University was established. The college consists of five departments: mathematics department, applied mathematics department, information science department, computational science department and statistics department, as well as mathematics teaching center and mathematics experiment center.
Second, the teaching staff.
The college has a strong faculty, and there are currently 35 faculty members1,including teachers11and experimental technicians 10. At present, the school has 1 member of China Academy of Sciences, "973" chief scientist 1 member, 2 national famous teachers, 2 winners of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 4 winners of National Talent Plan, 3 national young talents1member, 7 provincial talents, 22 "top-notch young talents" and 65 "outstanding young talents".
Third, discipline construction.
Mathematics ranks before the global ranking of ESI 1%, and "Computational Mathematics" of two disciplines is a national key discipline. In the fourth round of discipline evaluation, mathematics discipline ranked A (2%-5%) and statistics discipline ranked B (20%-30%). The college won three second prizes of national natural science, two second prizes of national scientific and technological progress 1, one first prize of scientific and technological progress of the Ministry of Education 1, two first prizes of Shaanxi Science and Technology Award, and one first prize of Shaanxi Natural Science Award 1.
