The urology department of Tianjin No.1 Central Hospital is an independent urology department founded by Professor Xi Shien, one of the founders of urology department in China, a famous urology expert and medical educator, on 1956. It was one of the few independent urology departments in China at that time.

Professor Shi was appointed as the first department head, and Professor Ouyang Gan and Professor Fan Yuling successively served as department heads.
