Waseda University in Japan has five campuses. It consists of Waseda Campus (Headquarters), Hushan Campus, Kitakyushu Campus, Waseda (Polytechnic Campus), Advanced Life Medical Science Center and Sozawa Campus, and is located near Shinjuku in the northwest of downtown Tokyo. Waseda University, born in 1882, is one of the most famous private universities in Japan. It was founded by Li Ben, a former Japanese prime minister and a famous person in Meiji Restoration.

Although Zaoda's ranking in Japan is not the highest, it is well-known in Japan. Many Japanese political, economic and cultural celebrities graduated from Zaoda University, and revolutionaries such as Chen Duxiu, Li Dazhao and Song also studied here.
