How was the President of the Student Union of the University of Hong Kong elected?
The president of the student union is elected together with his own cabinet, which includes all the members of the student union, and all the members form a "village" to run together. Sometimes there are two Zhuang candidates, and sometimes there is only one Zhuang candidate. In the former case, it depends on which village gets the highest number of votes, but in either case, the whole cabinet needs to exceed 10% to be elected. All students of the University of Hong Kong can vote with their student ID cards. After the whole cabinet election is successful, it depends on the number of individual votes. If two people in the village run for the same position, the one with the highest number of votes is elected. Usually only one person in a village runs for president, and usually only one village runs for president. It is generally impossible to have mainland students in the village.
