The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of Soochow University has five undergraduate majors: mechanical engineering and automation, mechanical and electronic engineering, electrical engineering and automation, industrial engineering, material forming and control engineering, among which mechanical engineering and automation are provincial majors; Mechanical engineering (including mechanical engineering and automation, mechanical and electronic engineering, material forming and control engineering) is the key specialty in Jiangsu Province during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period. It has three doctoral programs in laser manufacturing engineering, digital textile and equipment technology and intelligent robot technology. It has two first-class master's programs in mechanical engineering, instrument science and technology, and two disciplines in control theory and control engineering 1 master's programs. Mechanical basic laboratory is the experimental teaching demonstration center of universities in Jiangsu province, advanced manufacturing technology laboratory is the key laboratory in Suzhou, and SMT laboratory facilities are in the forefront of similar laboratories in domestic universities.

Colleges and universities are the cradle of cultivating high-level engineering talents. Over the past decades, a large number of senior engineering and technical personnel urgently needed for economic construction have been trained. The college has a strong faculty, complete disciplines, advanced teaching facilities and fruitful scientific research results.
